Even as a child, as far back as she could remember, she had done nothing but endure." • Strange, haunting, and disturbing, The Vegetarian is definitely not a book you say you 'enjoy'. The story unfolds like a cerebral Black Mirror episode, and this particular translation is really beautifully written (have heard Kang's original Korean version is closer to her prose in The White Book, which a I read a while back). "For our June book club prompt I decided to pick up Us Against You, the sequel to Beartown which was one of my absolute favourite reads of last year. They're heavy reads which tackle difficult topics but overall I thought the sequel was just as gripping as the first book." - Erin
